What IP Flag does
IP Flag is a browser extension that displays the country flag and network location of the server used by the website you are visiting.
Data processed
To provide this feature, IP Flag sends the current website hostname to https://api.ipflag.io. That service resolves the hostname and reads local MaxMind GeoLite2 City and ASN databases on our server. IP geolocation queries are not forwarded to external providers. The response can include the resolved server IP, country, region, city, ASN, ISP, timezone, approximate coordinates and network organization. This describes the website server, not your physical location.
Local caching
Geolocation results are cached on your device for up to ten days. Obsolete and expired entries are pruned. Mapbox static image tiles are cached only on the device, up to 64 images and no longer than the provider’s freshness instructions or twelve hours.
What we do not collect
IP Flag does not request your name, email address, passwords, payment information or page content. It does not sell user data or use lookup data for advertising profiles.
Third-party services
MaxMind GeoLite2 supplies locally stored City and ASN data. WHOIS lookups send only the website domain to who.ga and, when needed, ip2whois.com; those results are cached on our server for up to seven days. Mapbox receives tile coordinates, style, public token and the network address required for the connection when you open the panel, without the website domain or page content. Optional outbound links are opened only when clicked.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the extension or its service providers change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
